Die Cast Alloys

Semco Enterprises, Inc. manufacturers the range of ZAMAK and ZA alloys. The most common zinc alloy, ZAMAK 3, satisfies most die casting needs with it's high strength, hardness and low melting point. The other ZAMAK alloys: ZAMAK 2, ZAMAK 5, and ZAMAK 7; have a similar range of Aluminum but differ with their Magnesium and Copper ranges thus resulting in different mechanical and physical properties.

The majority of die cast alloys are produced by pressure die casting. There are two techniques for pressure die casting; hot and cold chamber. Hot chamber die casting is primarily used for ZAMAK and ZA8 alloys, because of the low melting points. It produces at a high production rate even with intrigue casts. Cold chamber casting is used for Zinc alloys that have higher melting points. The metal must be ladled into an injection cylinder thus the production rates are less.
